Current Volunteer Needs


We currently have several weekly warehouse volunteer needs. 

These positions are in the warehouse and could entail sorting donations, stocking shelves, assisting clients as needed, organizing, light cleaning and various other miscellaneous things that might come up.


You would need to be able to commit to come in weekly on your chosen day and shift.
You need to be able to lift at least 40 pounds.


2nd & 4th Tuesdays of the month (3 openings) 5:30 PM - 8 PM

Elk Run Farm- Elk Run Farm provides 12 local food banks with fresh produce. They are needing volunteers on Saturdays from 9 AM - 2 PM. They welcome children and families so this would be a great family project. They are located at: 22500 SE 275th Pl Maple Valley, WA. 98038

Students with Educational Service requirements - Volunteer opportunities for students who are at least 16, able to work independently, and consistently able to lift up to 40 pounds, safely, are available on some Fridays, 1:30 - 3:30 pm. Openings are limited, so plan ahead. You must contact us by Wednesday to be scheduled for the following Friday.
Students are also encouraged to check here for summer volunteer needs with our Garden and School Supply Backpack Program.

Court Ordered Community Service - If you are interested in fulfilling Court Ordered Community Service requirements, or community service in lieu of a fine, you must come to our office, Monday - Thursday, 2:00 - 3:00 pm, to fill out an Inquiry Form. You will be contacted ONLY if there is a current need for your services. Court Order or sentencing documents will be required at the time work is scheduled. Phone calls and emails requesting court related community service will not be returned.

Join the team of delightful, dedicated volunteers serving neighbors in need!


It takes about 300 volunteer hours to keep our Regular Operations running smoothly for one week.  We are deeply grateful to the men and women who faithfully meet that need week in and week out!

On Call volunteers are needed to fill in for regular volunteer absences, as needed.

Short-term volunteers are needed to accomplish seasonal, Special Projects throughout the year, particularly during the holiday season.


  • For a variety of safety, confidentiality and logistic considerations, volunteers must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Regular Operations volunteers must be able to safely lift up to 40 pounds consistently.
  • All volunteers are scheduled in advance to ensure adequate staffing.

Regular Operations Job Descriptions

Drivers (21 years of age and older) and Food Pickup Helpers (18 years and older)

Once weekly time commitment. Monday - Thursday, we send out teams of volunteers, in our vehicles, to various stores in the area for prearranged pick up of goods. Drivers and Helpers go out at 8:00 am, then return to offload, weigh, sort and prep the donations for distribution to our clients. 

Food Bank/Warehouse Operations

Once weekly time commitment. We strive to provide a welcoming and orderly shopping experience for our clients. Monday - Friday, volunteers work together in our grocery "store" and warehouse to:

  • Assist with client shopping during Food Distribution Hours
  • Clean, prep and stock fresh fruits and vegetables
  • Sort canned and dry goods per category and date code
  • Repackage bulk items such as dried beans, oatmeal, rice
  • Restock shelves and coolers, rotating product
  • Break down/remove boxes, return crates to holding area
  • Clean and sweep at shifts end
  • Other needed tasks as requested by staff

Special Projects

Hundreds of hours of short-term service are needed each year just for our Special Projects. Current needs will be posted (above), in season, for:

  • School Supply Backpack Program - August. Sort and inventory donated supplies, stuff backpacks, or help with distribution in time for the new school year.
  • Children's Christmas Gift Program - December. Set up special gift center for parents to choose gifts for their children. Sort, inventory and organize donated toys, set up and stock gift center, or help with gift distribution.
  • Gardening - Help plant, cultivate and harvest our raised bed vegetable garden, in season.
  • Food Drives - Conducting a drive for food or other necessities is a great way to support our mission any time!  Click here for more information.
